THE SCIENCE AND ART OF Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion treatments accurately targets the stratum corneum, the topmost layer of the epidermis where layers of dead skin lie on top of maturing skin.

The epidermis also harbours fine wrinkles and other minor skin imperfections. Microdermabrasion treatments eliminate or disintegrate the stratum corneum. They enhance its restauration capabilities with new and healthy skin thus improving skin texture and increasing the effectiveness of creams and lotions that find their way more easily down to the lower layers of the skin.

Based on our 15 years of microdermabrasion practical experience, Silhouet-Tone strongly believes, that regular treatments influence the way the lower layers of skin grow while triggering and speeding up the rise of healthy skin to the surface.

Most microdermabrasion devices work today with a basic technology that uses a stream effect combined to a vacuum action which creates a dynamic flow similar to a Venturi effect, developed and named after the Italian physicist Giovanni Battista Venturi (1746–1822).

A typical apparatus has three (3) main utilities that work simultaneously to (i) pull and raise a small section of the epidermis that brings skin impurities to the surface, (ii) project a small stream of crystals across the targeted area while simultaneously (iii) collecting the used crystals and dead skin for disposal.

1. Our opinion on the device: Before acquiring my Silouhet-Tone microdermabrasion device, I used a Chinese device with diamond tips. However, I didn’t find it effective. It was like giving my clients a regular exfoliation. Since investing in the ST device, the results I’m getting are absolutely amazing. I’m able to remove surface pigmentation, reduce the appearance of scars, diminish the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, reduce the size of pores, remove superficial blackheads, and facilitate the extraction of deep blackheads. There are several intensity levels for the corundum grit jet, allowing for a treatment perfectly tailored to each client. The spiral pattern of the jet on the skin ensures it’s effective without irritating the skin. I very often combine it with a non-surgical facelift (RMD) treatment for super-effective results on the signs of aging.

2. Financial Impact: Purchasing the Silouhet-Tone device has allowed me to achieve better results, leading to increased demand from my existing clientele, and also to attract new clients with the before-and-after proof. I recouped my investment in just a few weeks. I was also able to increase the cost of my treatments by 50%, and my demand has increased despite the price increase because the results speak for themselves.
